The Feelings That Should Be Forgotten

The Feelings That Should Be Forgotten

The winter
Prefers a coatless
Back,

The hover
Of heat upon
The spinal cord

Breath
Through extended
Fingers

Still unaware
Of the creeping
Cold—

The sadness
Has filled her
Again,

The kitchen
A white spasm
Of light

As woolly
Claws contract
Around the

Beating heart,
Only smoke
Upon the

Hand-drawn
Map, stray pellets
Of lead dance

Along the
Laminate,
A low murmur—

A ghost.

  1. Sucked into such a pit is one hard to get out of, a shell is all that is left sometimes.

  6. Nice, tight poem, like a sting of beads, with hard imagery to match.

    The diamonds down her back
    radiated through the winter cold
